The Our Own Dubai Inter-school Annual Athletic Meet for girls was held in the Dubai Police Stadium on the 18th of December. Students from Dubai Gem participated and made our school proud by securing not only points but medals as well.
Our girls showed the competitors that they were nothing to laugh by proving themselves in the various difficult heats and finals.
Unsurprisingly we outmatched the competition by a large amount thanks to the long hours spent training at the Iranian Club.
Dana Ibragimova secured silver medals for 100m and 200m sprints. Sarah Hussain received a silver medal for her performance in the 800m race and also came in 4th place in the 400m race.
Basma Hamdy secured silver and bronze medals for the javelin and discus throws respectively. Madusha Ranjankumar received a gold medal for the javelin throw and came in 4th for the discus throw.
Other notable performers included Surabhi Bhatia and Elnaz Tabei who came in 4th place for the discus throw and high jump respectively. Overall, the girls made our school proud by earning points that ensured our school the 6th position out of the 13 schools participating in the prestigious event

It was quite chilly but the heat from all the adrenalin pumping through everyone’s veins kept them warm. A total of 16 schools participated and the competition was fierce.
